Walking in Extremadura

Extremadura is — although still little known — a very pleasant destination for walking. It is wonderfully quiet, there are beautiful walking trails everywhere, and we provide our guests with very detailed information about walking routes in the area

Autumn and winter are ideal seasons for exploring Extremadura on foot. Extremadura is a wonderful walking destination, also very suitable for less experienced walkers. You won’t find worn-out paths or crowds here — quite the opposite. The chance of meeting other walkers is extremely small.

Walking in Extremadura is generally easy: there are no high mountain passes or steep climbs, and the landscape is mostly gently rolling.

From Finca Las Abubillas, you can set off straight away on excellent walks. We have described a variety of walking routes, ranging from just a few kilometres to almost twenty kilometres in length. These routes take you along unpaved country tracks, through dehesas and cork oak woodland, and alongside rivers.

In addition, several walking routes have been marked out in Monfragüe National Park, leading you past the park’s most beautiful viewpoints. They are surprisingly varied and offer a high chance of encountering wildlife and the many birds (including birds of prey) that inhabit the park. These routes are also included in your information folder.
